Key Information for Vendor Applicants
The Farmers Market on the Jackson Town Square has been recognized as one of the most highly respected Farmers Markets in the nation. Hundreds of people visit the market each Saturday during the summer to beautiful downtown Jackson Hole, WY. During the summer months, Jackson Hole has more than 3 million visitors pass by the Square. Typically, our vendors do very well in both exposure and sales. Rather than charge vendors a fixed site fee, we ask that they donate 10% of gross proceeds from that day’s sales, which is donated to a local non-profit each week (annually selected through a highly competitive process).
Selected Vendors may only sell farm fresh produce and other fresh products. Our market is true to its tradition of providing farm-fresh produce, fruits, home baked goods, fresh breads, locally-made cheese, locally-raised honey, locally-raised beef and pork, fresh eggs, fresh herbs, other speciality food items and locally produced flowers. Vendors are selected if proposed goods fall into either one of the following product categories, based on availability: raw agricultural, value-added products as long as they contain 80% of the vendor’s product and do not consist of more than 25% of a vendor’s space, as well as prepared foods and Meat/Seafood/Dairy products, given that vendors follow strict food safety guidelines.
No trailers are permitted at the Saturday Farmers Market. The thousands of local and long distance visitors that shop at the market love strolling from booth to booth. Rather, all vendors are required to set up a table and a pop-up canopy and vend from within that space so as to encourage direct communication between customers and individual Market vendors to ask questions and encourage educational exchange of information. 10 ft booth space increments are offered upon availability each year and this measure enables us to maintain the unique aesthetic and character of the Farmers Market on the historic Jackson Town Square, ease congestion and allow for as many different vendors as possible to offer a diverse selection of products to Market patrons.
Vendors are more than welcome to transport goods by a trailer and then park trailers in the nearby Town parking lot located at the intersection of N. Center St & Gill Street.
The assignment of vendor spaces occurs at the beginning of each season upon availability. Designated spaces are given to veteran vendors who attend 90% of markets each season. Keeping the street wall and maing sure there are no empty spaces between booths around the Town Square, we implement a slide rule when necessary, which means you could slide slightly left or right depending on the situation. We ask our vendors to arrive around 6:45 am to begin set up as our market opens promptly at 8:00am and runs until 12:00pm.
Per the conditions of the Farmers Market event permit, Vendors must stop selling promptly at 12 noon so that the Town square is completely clear of the market booths and vehicles no later than 12:30pm.
Thank you to all the farmers and food vendors who have made the farmers market such a success!
